OK, I just checked - they still say Only 1 left - so it's still there.

I'm quite sure no exchange rate fluctuation will give me buyer's remorse.

You just had to post this, didn't you. Drool...

Bad picture but just picked this up for $50. Going to try my hand at customizing It for a swimbait reel. Going to make a thread about It because I don’t know where to start.

Good luck dude.  Spool/star drag/knobs is the extent of my reel customizing.  I'm no mechanic....I end up with 'extra parts' when I get the reel back together.  I can't be good at everything, lol.

Different strokes for different folks, but I won't even let my reel's paint job touch the grass when I bank fish.

True. Different strokes. I won’t bank fish.

I’ve found these things kinda help with that and save passenger seats… https://eyesurrendernow.com/shop/ols/categories/wraps

Don't think I'd go so far as to classify these as anything worth "showing off" - lol - but I picked them up locally on clearance this week for the same price as buying one online. They'll be matched up with a pair of my favorite finesse rods (ML Shimano Clarus) for an identical set of combos.

Well you definitely showed off the boxes 😉 I for one don’t care about brands or how much, but I would love to see the actual reels and the rod /reel combos.

Here you go...the top setup has the "new" version Clarus rod; the bottom is the original "old" rod version.

Not going to lie I’m a sucker for color matching combos so the new rod/reel version is awesome 😉 With that said I know nothing about the “Clarus” rods but wow I like the reel seat on the older rod/reel version. Very nice and thank you for taking the time to show them off. Can’t wait to see/hear reports on your future catches on these combos.

I have really gone down the Shimano rabbit hole lately. Three major purchases in as many months have eaten up all my “Mad Money”

A lady I work with has taken a second job on the weekends at the local Field and Stream. She gets a 25% discount on purchases. Her cousin runs a tackle shop and gives her steep discounts.

She has become my new drug dealer…

Yep, same here. I don't get some of the bank anglers, who just toss the rod and reel aside like garbage whenever they catch a fish. It's good to treat each fish like the last fish you'll catch, but I think they take it too literally.

I bring a towel and those extendable rod holders in my tackle bag. The towel is for when the terrain is rocky and I have to lay my rod down. The reel is always on the towel. If I have to lay it down it gets placed gently.

No pictures yet but my sons 13th bday is coming up in September. So as a gift,
I already had a new Daiwa Fuego CT so I ordered him a tatula elite long cast spool and Hedgehog studio ZR spool bearings for It. Will put 12lb mono on It and get him a Dobyns Fury 733c or 734c.
Should be a nice senko, small swimbait, spinnerbait setup for him.

Went to next level on my Black Cherry - braid-raced 4600C.

Added a graphite magnum frog blade to my Smith Super Strike handle, 3/8 to 1 oz,

to compliment my Top Water Light S-glass blade.

The color match is pretty sharp.

Unfortunately, didn't get to cast my frog today - it rained - but you won't hear me complain about that

My next project, Daiwa Millionaire Ringa SSS.  Bought this from one of the members here and it will soon undergo a transformation for creek fishing.  The Roro spool is already on the way.  Along with that, it'll have a handle from an Alphas Air Stream Custom. A driveshaft, star wheel and associated click hardware from a Millionaire CT, a drag clicker, and a Steez handle bolt to round it out.

nice. i got one a while ago with intentions of doing the gear swap and mods to run 34mm spools properly and more. then realized the reel was too pretty as it is and couldnt bring myself down to do it, so mission aborted lol

If you're gear swapping, the 7.2 gears from the Alphas SV105 are a direct swap, then the pinion shaft is a direct swap too and will let you run the 34mm Steez spools.  I'm keeping the 5.8s, love them for working hard baits in the streams.

No bling or extras on these. Both cool enough looking for my simple tastes. Just two desert island favs of mine, and both are a pleasure to fish with.

right: USDM Zillion G. Nearly perfect.

left: JDM Catalina TW, which is essentially a USDM '18 Zillion HD with a Mag Z spool. I can bomb a 3/8oz chatter bait, then tie on a 3 oz swim bait and launch it without touching the brake. A trouble-free versatile brute. Magseal main crank bearing, and clicking drag is cool.
